NAWBA the importance of conformation article

NAWBA what is a working Bouvier
This article published in the NAWBA magazine on our opinion as to, "What is a working dog?" We realize that many different breeders have a variety of reasons as to why they believe that their thoughts are more accurate than others. It is the variety that makes the debate so interesting. We have observed and participated in a variety of working events and find that the foundation for a good working dog is just what we have listed in this article. For us these traits hold true.

David and titan Team Bajoron at the 5K9 Run

Our first ever, supposed to be 5 K 9 run that turned out to be 4 miles long was fun to watch. Both Titan and Tazor run regularly for five miles each time. David stepped up as his wife was down with a bad cold, and Titan came with him to run for Team Bajoron. As the field of competitors rounded the hills, the run officials did not tell the runners exactly what the course was. Our team had to run extra laps and were none the worse for wear. It was amazing what great shape Titan was in and David finished with his signature smile on his face.

We are very proud of our team and felt honored as they raced to the finish!

Congratulations David and Titan!

WE RECIEVED THE MOST INCREDIBLE ACCOLADE BY DOG EXIBITORS THAT WE HAVE EVER HAD. ONE OF OUR DOGS IS TRAINING TO SHOW. AS THE CLASS WAS TRYING TO FIND THE DOG WITH NEAR PERFECTION IN MOVMENT, THEY BEGAN TO TALK ABOUT THE ROLLA KENNEL CLUB SHOW JUST HELD IN SAINT LOUIS JUNE 2012. THE INSTRUCTOR FOR THE CLASS WAS THERE AS WERE THE PARTICIPANTS (NOT OUR DOG AS SHE IS STILL TRAINING).

THEY REQUESTED THAT OUR DOG MOVE, THE GROUP WAS TREATED TO THE FAMOUS BOUVIER FLOATING IMAGE. IT WAS AT THAT POINT IT WAS SAID, THE DOGS AT THE SHOW IN SAINT LOUIS WOULD HAVE BEEN PALED BY OUR DOG. THE OBSERVATION IS THAT OUR DOG'S TOPLINE REMAINED FLATE AND HER FEET DID NOT SHUFFLE BUT HAD DRIVE AND MOVED EFFORTLESSLY. THE HEAD HELD UP BUT NOT TO BE TOO HIGH (SINCE THIS IS THE WAY A BOUVIER SHOULD MOVE AS PER THE STANDARD. ALL VETERAN PARTICIPANTS THAT HAD VIEWED THE BOUVIERS AT THE SHOW, WERE VERY COMPLIMENTARY THAT OUR DOG WOULD HAVE BEEN SUPERIOR IN NATURE.

HAVING DEMONSTRATED THAT SHE CAN HERD ON A DAILY BASIS. THIS DOG IS TRULY AN ILLUSTRATION OF THE BEST COMBINATION IN THE BOUVIER DES FLANDRES.

We have been been in Bouviers for over 32 years. As our about us page indicates we finally decided to name ourselves Bajoron after many names just did not fit. Bajoron stuck. Breeding, raising, showing, and living with our dogs has been a passion for what seems to be forever now. We took the leap and permanently registerd our Kennel name to further illustrate to everyone we are SERIOUS ABOUT WHAT WE DO.

we are moving out

We had yet another exciting invitation by the American Kennel Club in late summer, to feature our dogs as a representative for the breed Everyone will be doing a little traveling for this one but I am sure it will be well worth the day. Again we are honored and have invited almost 20 dogs to join us in our showcase. Once we have completed our day, we will again post on the site for all of you to enjoy

Our kennel has been picked as a flagship contributor to a program designed for a very special assistance dog. We are told the camera man who took the photos and the movies of our meeting with the trainers will be posting the event on the internet. Again we will keep you posted on the event. We are so busy and so proud. We can't wait to share all of our efforts, and work, with you. It is fun to meet the different people involved with our dogs and our activities. We can't wait to share all the details of this special training and the exciting things that Dutch will be doing.

WE WANT TO EXTEND OUR BEST WISHES TO OUR DAUGHTER AND HOPE THAT SHE CAN OVERCOME THE FINAL DAYS OF HER CLINICS.

Eukanuba Invitation!

About two years ago we whelped a litter. out of Koda and Cuivre. Koda is a beautiful boy owned by Roy and Kim. HIs conformation is impeccable. He lives with two other bouviers. He visits the local park regularly and plays with kids and other dogs. He is all Bouvier and the most beautiful dog you can find!

Enter Cuivre. . .she is a high drive and loving female that is strong, large boned but not big. Her conformation is also impeccable. Her show work ethic is so good she sticks a stack and will not move. She knows that makes her handler happy and tries all the while to be the dog you want her to be.

The combination of these two dogs produced a litter that was without a doubt beautiful. Both dogs fully health tested clean, excellent health background, and combined the puppies were so very nice.

As breeders know many show, few finish. It takes dedication and will to succeed. Steve championed this dog to her AKC championship and is headed to the Grand Championship status. Showing against dogs that are from kennels that are respected and thought to be the best, she has showed them that we produce contenders that are formidable in nature.

We are proud to announce that Bea has been invited to the Eukanuba Classic. We thank Steve & Janie Bowerman, Emmy Herring and Brea her Groomer for a job well done.

Cesar and Rycca

Yep you are correct this is Cesar Millan with Rycca at the IACP Conference April 9th, 2011.

Not many dogs get to meet him under such great conditions. Usually there is an issue but this meeting started off with the fact that Rycca is the best behaved dog.

Just like our Motto, "For a dog you can live with and a Breeder you can trust, No Bones about it!" We are often told that Bajoron Dogs hold the best temperaments and yet remain all Bouvier!

We could not have been more thrilled to have recieved this photo and a few more that make our life and love of the Bouvier seem all that much more important. We thank Rachelle and continue to watch she and Rycca as they show their Bajoron Pride!

We have some really great news, Bea is number 47 in the top winning Bouviers in the country. She is about to wear the Queen's crown and make Bajoron proud!

One of our dogs in New York is being trained to do some pretty extrordinary things!

"Geronimo" has a special trainer and Gary tells us he is going to really be quite the dog when he returns. We will keep you posted on this breaking story.

Geronimo

Bajoron was contacted by The Animal Planet to feature some of our dogs on the production of the 2011 Dog 101 The Bouvier des Flandres. Our puppies in our first litter were too old for their time frame. The puppies we had planned were not to be born yet so we were not able to help them out. It was alot of fun though to be considered and called a number of times! At first we thought it was a joke but after the return messages and speaking with them we found out they were for real. What fun! Please click the link below to visit their wonderful site!

We have given alot of space to the explanation of the AKC Breeder of Merit program. Basically because it is extremely special. The AKC announced 116 breeders that include ALL Breeds not just Bouviers. Bajoron is the only Bouvier breeder to have been invited into the original pilot program and remains the only Bouvier breeder to date that is participating in this Honorable endeavor. We are proud to be recognized. please click on the Gazette J-Peg to see out participation announcement!

December 2010 AKC Gazette announcing the Breeder of Merit participants!

Bajoron Bouviers has been getting many calls and now has been noticed by the AKC judge, reps and educational Bouvier reps with accolades for our dogs that are showing.

We are getting calls that lend volition to our efforts for conformation, HEALTH HISTORY DOGSS, immediate health, temperament and presentation in our breeding.

Our efforts have paid off and the dogs we are producing are becoming a force in the ring despite our obvious lack of the prevalent pedigree in all the winning dogs. To quote a onlooker that has researched the breed and it's current health, "The dogs in the ring are all closely related. Not so with Bajoron Bouviers. We are impressed with Bajoron's ability to raise the bar and still maintain the breed standard and temperament with out compromise!"

Our buttons are busting with appreciation for this observation!

Below you will see the Elite group that Bajoron was invited to be a part of in August of 2010. We were chosen from a handful of breeders in the United States for our reputation and were honored to assist the American Kennel Club in it's program. Bajoron was recognized for it's extreme hands on approach to puppy placements and puppy raising and as a result we are one of 77 breeders nationwide that recieved this accolade. We are proud and honored to be noticed for our high criteria that we seek in our breed. Thank you so much TY and the AKC for making us a part of this program and proudly telling the world we are BREEDERS OF MERIT! Note I marked my name in Red. We are filled with Pride!!!!!!

The story of The Show Sight Magazine Article

In October Our Facility was called to interview with a representative from Show sight Magazine for the herding issue in November. We answered each question carefully and are excited to say the interview was published with a select few other breeders of Bouviers. This is the Magazine Cover and the article as it stands in the Magazine.

Along with our other awards that we have recieved this year, we are proud to be a kennel that such a prestigious publication would seek out to tell the public about our wonderful breed.
Thank you Showsight!

The story of the American Bouvier des Flandres Rescue League Garden Gate

ABRL eBay Benefit Auction HAS BEEN COMPLETED! Congratulations to the lucky bidder...

Gorgeous Hand Crafted Bouvier des Flandres Art
How It Came to Be

Last December, an eBay auction of a beautiful Bouvier quilt netted nearly $9,000 to assist the American Bouvier Rescue League in carrying out our mission of rescuing Bouviers in need. $4,000 came from the sale of the quilt, while an additional $5,000 was donated by an individual who became aware of our need for funds through the auction. The ABRL is grateful to these, and all of our supporters, for the assistance so selflessly given so that we can continue our rescue work on behalf of this noble breed.

This year, due to the generosity of  three-time ABRL adopters Larry and Deborah Craddock, we have the opportunity to auction another truly unique and beautiful art creation, a hand-crafted 46" high x 35" wide steel "panel" depicting a Bouvier des Flandres.  A chance conversation with artist Lynn Vellios resulted in a design that not only showcases Lynn's incredible talent in a life-like depiction of this marvelous breed that we know and love, but that also offers optimal structural integrity.  It is a magnificent work of art and we thank both the Craddocks and Lynn Vellios for their generous contributions to this project.

The entire panel measures 46 inches high by 35 inches wide, and is sized to fit within a standard 36 inch wide gate opening in a 48 inch high fence with 2 inches of ground clearance.  Two screw mounted hinges and a gravity gate latch are included. Hinges and the latch portion of the gate (which would go opposite to, and on the side of, the raised front paw of the Bouvier) will not be installed until after a winning bidder informs us if the hinge placement is desired for their intended use of the panel.

The Garden Gate
The Details
The interior panel (the Bouvier design itself) is cut from 1/8th inch thick  steel plate and the exterior frame is constructed from 2 inch x 2 inch square steel hollow-core tubing to make the item both sturdy and yet reasonably lightweight at under 50 pounds.  The interior panel is centered in theexterior frame, and is welded continuously on both sides of the panel.  The complete assembly has been acid washed to remove surface impurities and then treated with a phosphatizing rinse for corrosion protection and pretreatment for powder coating.

Two coats of powder coating have been applied.  The first coat is a zinc rich primer coat to further protect against rust and corrosion and the second coat is a gloss black polyester finish coat chosen for its outstanding appearance plus its superior resistance to abrasion, fading and checking due to sunlight and weather.  The panel, shown in the photos being used as a garden gate, is the item for sale in the auction.  NOTE: The Trellis is NOT included in the auction, and is shown here only for display purposes.

In addition to the obvious use as a garden gate, the panel is shown here temporarily installed in a (not-included) trellis to show scope and proportion. Similar-sized panels have also been used as decorative wall hangings, fireplace guards, and stand alone "objet d'art" exhibits. Additionally, the panel could be integrated into ornamental iron fences, drive-through entrance gates, or fire screen panels fashioned to showcase the gate panel, or patio tables with an ornamental iron frame and glass top.  Optional stands, mounting brackets and trellises for the panel will be available at additional cost, and if a drive-through gate is the intended use, a mirror image panel can be constructed, also for an additional fee.  Please remember: The auction is for the single panel only!
How to Bid:
The start date of the 2009 American Bouvier Rescue League Auction for the Bouvier des Flandres Steel Panel is March 16, 2009. If you would like a personal reminder as the auction starts, have questions, or desire further information, please send an email to
abrldonations@hotmail.com .

100% of the proceeds directly benefit the Bouviers helped under the auspices of the American Bouvier Rescue League, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

A New Registry of Merit Publication is in the making.

Bajoron is proud to announce that we are assisting in the making of the new Registry of Merit Book. We tried desparately to get Bajor's Certification and as a result found ourselves helping in the effort to commend other dogs as well. With our vast database of names, numbers, and Bouvier contacts we have served to provide to the membership lost information on the dogs who deserve to be recognized.

The new version of the book will be available as soon as the ABdFC compiles the information that the committee has put together. This will be a must have for your Bouvier Library!

  • Stunning bouvier des flandres Website Design and Functionality.
  • A Useful and Unique bouvier des flandres Resource
  • Great Writing and/or Informational Quality
  • Helping the Preservation and General Well Being of The bouvier des flandres Breed.
  • Having a Happy Feel and Style To Your bouvier des flandres Site.

We constantly get updates on Health an lines. we are so researched oriented at Bajoron that our database has to be backed up daily on an external site. the information that we get from private owners is invaluable in our quest to know what lines are producing what traits, characteristics and health outcomes. Breeding is not playing "Russian Roulette" as indicated in a recent e-mail recieved by one of our fellow breeders, but careful consideration by the person breeding to what lines have historically produced what health.

It is so important to the future of our breed for us not to look at Winners in the ring, but winners in the health arena and how these breeders are producing these dogs. Criteria for a line needs to encompass, Temperament, Health, Conformation, Character and Health history. If all components fall into place then you are good to go.

It is Bajorons intention to strive for perfection. Help us in our quest by providing us information about your dogs health history with a note and verification for our database. This verified information helps us to meet this goal with health.
